Japanese Meiji period bronze hand mirror.  Before silver backed glass mirrors a woman would use the highly polished smooth see flextime surface of one of these mirrors to see an image of her appearance. This one is a particularly fine example.  With bas relief of bamboo and Japanese conji sculpted on one side.  This comes in its original box which has seen better days but does not effect the value of the piece.
